Retirement Tribute: Diane Marinoff

Diane Marinoff has been a fixture in the Lower School since 1982. Her background in Montessori education informed her intentional approach to supporting children within a developmentally appropriate framework. Diane’s steadfast commitment to helping children grow and learn was evident throughout her 40 years at 线上博彩平台排名 and she will be truly missed.

While Diane was most often found in classrooms, working with children and teachers, she was also present at every Kindergarten admissions playday. This is just another way that Diane demonstrated her commitment to 线上博彩平台排名 and the admissions process. She could be seen guiding children into the classrooms on these days, as well as calming nervous parents as they stood at the door. She is a keen observer and always had important comments to share as a member of the Kindergarten admissions committee. Diane also served on the full Lower School admissions committee as well.

Diane was a leader when it came to tackling issues within the division. When she recognized the need for materials to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student population, she applied for several grants from ARCO to purchase multicultural classroom materials for the Lower School. Similarly, when she identified the necessity for additional phonics instruction in the Lower School classrooms, she championed and introduced the Fundations program.

Diane has served on the Student Services Team, the Agenda Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, and many other committees throughout the school. When a colleague had to take a leave of absence due to illness, she filled in as a first-grade teacher for a year. We are thankful to Diane for her straightforward approach to every situation and her ability to put children first.

We will miss her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors, and we hope that she will come back and visit often!
